Being Out of Line
Alison Plasto is a writer, producer and filmmaker. A natural storyteller, her documentary filmmaking is hitting the mark. In fact this year, if you look closely, you’ll see Alison’s work on ABC Open as she helps regional and rural Australians tell their stories.
Drawn to ideas with contemporary themes, Alison delves deeply, creating story lines that are rich in the everyday, with life changing implications. She is passionate about mental health and is fascinated with generational change and the impact technology has on our lives.
Before veering Out of Line, Alison worked in marketing, notching up some valuable experience with Telstra, Rugby World Cup, BT Financial Group and Unilever. In 2006, she left the walls of beige (and her corporate career), to finish film school and create Out of Line.
When she’s not making documentaries, you’ll find Alison in the mountains… usually with some skis on. Her first feature documentary is currently in development.

Writing
We write words to suit any company, big or small.
Writing for online

This is about the number of words that the average person reads whilst scanning a website page. By the time you’ve read this, your audience may have moved on. Can you get your message across in this space? With Out of Line you can.

Telstra Business
The content refresh of the Telstra Business website was the largest overhaul Out of Line has undertaken. Our rather stern focus was to reduce the number of pages and create content that small and medium business could identify with right from the first screen. Fortunately for everyone, it was a triumph.

Warwick Fabrics
Out of Line was asked by the very talented designers at Warwick Fabrics to come up with the words to launch their Anthropology and Bondi Collections. We’ve been working with them ever since.

Community Sector Banking
Community Sector Banking, part of Bendigo Bank, was having trouble finding a tagline when Out of Line discovered a distinct lack of brand positioning. We explored and refined their brand essence and translated their promise into action through a new website and collateral. And the tagline? Real impact.

AMP Capital Shopping Centres
Just before the onset of winter, AMP Capital generously decided to give their Shopping Centre customers a chance to win a ski holiday to New Zealand. Our ever so slight interest in the snow made this project - creating characters on the slopes, somewhat surreal. Meet the Champion family.

Frequently Asked Questions
"Who looks at Frequently Asked Questions?" a friend ventured once. You'd be amazed. Neglect at your peril. How FAQs are written, searched and presented online is the tip of your customer service iceberg. When Telstra and BigPond asked Out of Line to refresh their FAQs, we looked, listened and produced a whole new series.
Writing for film

All of us have great ideas but at times we are lost for words. We can help craft your idea from concept to final cut. Whether it’s an online video, a documentary, a screenplay or an app, Out of Line scripts between the lines without the drama.

One Vision
Out of Line was given just one day to create something extraordinary for this conference opener. Time was of the essence. Together with Art Director, Nicoleen Agnello we imagined, drafted and crafted; and won the pitch!

Trapped
Through our own volition, we can become trapped in our lives. This film explores the lives of two men, Jim and Max, and their relative freedom. An ambitious drama, Trapped was selected in the Sydney Latin American Film Festival and Newtown Flicks Festival.
Writing for brands

Sometimes called brand strategy, getting your brand story and positioning right is just as important as your online content. At Out of Line we think about your brand essence first and create content that suits your image and personality (desired or otherwise!).

Bright Brewery
One fine Autumn day, a certain writer happened to be in a certain brewery in Bright. As luck would have it, Bright Brewery needed to strike a consistent tone for their new packaging. Naturally, we were only too pleased to lend a hand.
Writing for theatre

It’s a little known fact that Out of Line writes plays for the theatre. In our spare time. With work selected and staged in Short & Sweet and Inscription – we script and produce events needing the slightest bit of theatre.

In-valid
As we get older at what point do we become invisible? In-valid takes a look through multi-focals at our increasing desire to resist retirement (and getting old) in order to retain our identity. In-valid was short-listed in the national award winning play competition, Inscription.
